About RemateJudicialCR

A free website that brings together Costa Rica’s court-ordered property and vehicle auctions on a single map, with the information from each auction notice organized and explained.

🗺️ What it is

Court-ordered auctions (“remates judiciales”) are announced in the Boletín Judicial as notices (“edictos”): long texts in legal language, with no map. RemateJudicialCR turns them into clear listings and places them on a map of the whole country.

Each listing shows the starting price of the three auctions, the date and time of each one, the court and case number, the location of the property, the liens mentioned in the notice and the full text of the original notice.

📰 Where the data comes from

Everything starts with the auction notices published in the Boletín Judicial by the Imprenta Nacional. From each notice we extract the case number, the properties or vehicles, the starting prices, the dates and the conditions.

  • Location: each property is looked up in the SNIT (the national cadastre) by its property or survey plan number.
  • Tax value: compared with the land value platforms of the Ministry of Finance (Hacienda).
  • PDF report: adds property data from the National Registry and satellite images, without ID numbers or personal data.
  • Original text: the full notice is always on the listing, so you can compare.

🧰 What else it offers

Besides the map, the site has tools to help you decide before bidding:

  • Price per m² compared with nearby auctions.
  • Auction calendar and email reminders for your favorites.
  • Free email alerts when a property that matches what you are looking for goes to auction.
  • An AI assistant that answers questions about auctions and about each property.
  • Vehicle auctions, with price comparisons by model and year.
  • The step-by-step guide, the FAQ, the glossary and the calculator.
  • Auctions in figures: daily statistics by province, prices and courts.

🔄 How often it is updated

New auctions are added as their notices are published. An auction stays on the map while it still has an upcoming date; once the third auction has passed, it no longer appears on the map, although its listing remains available.

⚖️ What the site is not

RemateJudicialCR is not part of the Judiciary or of any bank or creditor, does not take part in the auctions and charges no commission on them.

The information is for reference only and may contain reading errors. Before bidding, check the case file and the official notice, and consult a lawyer.
